PLANT OUT SECOND SOWING OF FRENCH BEANS
The second sowing you made of French Beans last month will be
ready for transplanting outside.
Try to avoid root disturbance as
much as possible and water the newly planted French beans well to
help them establish. Plant them about 15cm / 6in apart.

SUPPORTS FOR FRENCH BEANS
Some dwarf French beans are self-supporting, some aren't. It's best
to be safe so place a few sticks near the plants to support them as
they grow. Twigs are ideal.

HARVEST CARROTS
Continue to harvest carrots as we described in
week 1 of this month.
START TO HARVEST NEW POTATOES
Sometime towards mid June your first early potatoes will be
ready to start harvest. Small new potatoes are the tastiest of all
so enjoy them in the knowledge that they have been grown with no
spraying of chemicals.
Continue to harvest them over the next four weeks
or so. Harvest whenever you need them leaving the rest in the
compost for harvesting later. They will keep better in the compost
than they will in the fridge or kitchen. For our full article on
harvesting potatoes,
